Isolated Power Systems

Acrel isolated power supply systems are mainly used in the medical and industrial sectors. The medical isolated power distribution system is mainly designed for the large threat to the patient's life caused by the leakage current. The industrial isolated electrical system is mainly used to monitor the insulation condition of the system to the ground in real-time because the leakage current poses a threat to the safety of some industrial production.

Isolated Power Supply Systems For Sale

An isolated power supply system is suitable for important places such as hospital operating rooms, ICU (CCU) intensive care units, and industrial fields such as electrolytic aluminium, mines, glass factories, electric furnaces and test equipment, metallurgical plants, chemical plants, explosion-hazardous places, computer centres and emergency In AC and DC ungrounded systems such as power supplies.

Isolated Power System Definition

In an isolated power supply system, the AITR series medical isolation transformer is the core of the system. It is used with the AIM series insulation monitor to monitor the insulation status of the IT system to the ground. When an insulation fault occurs, the AID series alarm and display instrument will remotely display and Sound and light alarm, at the same time ASG test signal generator and AIL insulation fault locator will locate the location of the fault, to cut off the fault circuit in time and accurately.

Isolated vs. Non-Isolated Power Supply

  • Different risk of electric shock

    A. Non-isolated power supply: There is a direct connection between the load end and the input end, which will introduce the high voltage of the AC power supply to the load end, thereby causing the danger of electric shock.

    B. Isolated power supply: The load terminal and the input terminal of the isolated power supply system are indirectly connected, so there is no danger of electric shock when touching the load.

    01
  • The driving efficiency is different

    A. Non-isolated power supply: The driving efficiency is high, and the voltage range is 110-300V.

    B. Isolated power supply: The drive efficiency of isolated power distribution system is low, and the voltage range is 60V-300V.

    02
  • The cost is different

    A. Non-isolated power supply: The circuit structure used is a DC/DC boost or buck circuit scheme, the circuit is simpler and the cost is lower.

    B. Isolated power supply: The circuit structure used is an AC/DC flyback circuit scheme, which is complicated and expensive.

How Does An Isolated Power Supply Work?

Isolated power systems, like our hospital isolated power systems, are known as power distribution systems with ungrounded neutral points. The power supply side of the system has no working grounding or is grounded through a high impedance, and grounding protection is performed on the load side. Therefore, when the first leakage fault occurs, the leakage current is small and will not generate a large contact voltage to threaten personal safety. Therefore, It is not necessary to cut off the power supply, so that the medical or industrial equipment can continue to work, and at the same time, the alarm device is used to remind the staff to check and eliminate the fault in time.
